İkarus Sendromu ya da Aşırı Motivasyon

İkarus Sendromu ya da Aşırı Motivasyon

İkaros, Atinalı mimar ve mucit Daedalus’un oğludur. Daedalus, Kral Minos için Knossos’ta (Girit’te antik bir şehir) tuzaklarla dolu dev bir labirent inşa eder. Efsaneye göre burada bir minotor yılın belli dönemlerinde  kurayla seçilen kurbanlarla dövüşür. Kurbanlardan biri de Yunan Mitolojisindeki yarı tanrı Theseus’tur. Theseus, Daedalus ve oğlu İkaros’un yardımı ile minotoru yener. Kral Minos, bu galibiyetten Daedalus ve oğlu İkaros’u suçlu tutar. Bu nedenle ceza olarak Daedalus ve oğlunu bu labirente hapseder.

İşte burada yaşlı Daedalus hem kendini hem de oğlunu kurtarmak için çaba harcar.  Kaçmak imkansızdır, güvenlik önlemleri çok fazladır. Daedalus bulabildiği malzemelerle iki kanat yapar ve bunları balmumu ile birleştirir. Oğula kanatlarını takan baba bir de öğüt verir; “İkarus, güneşe yakın uçma.”

İkarus uçmaya başlar. Önce kendini özgürlüğünü alan labirentten kurtulur. Sonra uçmanın neşesini yaşar. Yönünü güneşe çevirir. Kanat çırptıkça yükselmekte ve güneşe yaklaşmaktadır. Dünya alçalmakta, aşağılarda kalmakta, güneş yaklaşmakta, yukarılara çağırmaktadır. Baba öğüdü çoktan unutulmuştur. Yüreği daha yukarı, daha yukarı diye çarpmaktadır. Sonra balmumu erimeye başlar. Kanatlarındaki tüyler pıt pıt diye kopar. Ikarus kanatlarına artık hükmedemez. Hızla yere düşmeye başalar. Rivayet o ki ege denizinin derin sularına gömülür.

Bir baba ile oğlunun yüzyılları aşıp gelen mitik öyküsü bir deyim ve ve sendromu doğurmuş sonrasında. Daedalus kendi yaptığı labirentten çıkış olmadığını bildiği için; “Kapılar ve duvarlar kapalı olabilir ama gök bana açık.” diyerek kurtulma ümidini dillendirmiş. Kendi kanatlarnı yapıp gök yüzünde uçmuş. O gün bugün bu deyim, ‘kendi kanatlarıyla uçmak’ dilimize dolanmış.

Baba gökyüzünde süzülürken oğul derin bir maviliğe gömülmüş. Bu hazin son psikolojide; bir insanın hırslarına kapılıp kendini kaybetmesine, ekonomide; şirketlerin daha fazla büyürken kontrolden çıkmalarına, havacılık ve otomobil yarışlarında; daha fazla hız ve da yükseğe çıkma arzusunun pilotların kazalar yapmasına sebep olan bir sendrom olarak gösterilmiş; ikarus Sendromu

İkarus’un hikayesi yolun bir su gibi akıp gittiği, her şeyin hızla oluverdiği, bütün iradenin tamamen bizim elimizde olduğunu düşündüğümüz zamanların hikayesi değil mi? Daha yükseğe çıkma arzusu bizi sarıp sarmalar. Yolun sonunda sanki bizi cennet beklemektedir. Çocuksu bir coşkunun cıvıltılı sesinden dolayı yoldaki hiçbir işareti, sesi, ya da sözü duymaz oluruz. Bizi durduracak tek bir engel bile yoktur.  Hızla ilerlerken önümüze hiçbir engel çıkmaması, kesinlikle doğru yolda olduğumuzu düşündürür.  Oysa her durma ya da durdurulma hem ileriyi hem geriyi kontrol etme şansı verir. Bu da yolcu için en kritik bilgidir; şu anda neredeyim? Nerede olduğunu bilmeyen nereye gideceğini de bilemez. Yollar sadece nerede olduğunu bilenleri bir yerlere götürür. Öbür türlüsü sadece dolanıp durmaktır.

İkarus’un hikayesi misal misal içinde. Üzerine hikayeler, romanlar, şiirler yazılmış, araştırmalar, resimler yapılmış. Bu hırs, ihtiras, arzu, coşkun hal tanıdık gelmiş  insanlara.  Hikayeler, masallar genellikle motivasyonu, isteği, yaşam enerjisi, kendine güveni düşük insanları anlatır ve onlara sembolik bir dille haydi kalk, hareket geç durma der. Oysa bu hikâye, biraz dur, bekle, her şey yolunda olsa bile yolu dinlemeyi unutma demektedir. Kanat çırpıp uçabilecek bir insan bile olsan düşebilirsin, kaybedebilirsin. Ne kadar yükseldiğin önemli değil, ya da ne kadar hevesli, heyecanlı olduğun. Önemli olan nerede olduğunu bilmek, her yolun kurallarına uygun yolcu olmak. O zaman yol seni değil, sen yolu dilediğin yere götürürsün.
